A New Dog?
Well, for some reason I started looking at dogs the other day on the internet and I found one that I just think will be perfect for us, Jazmine. I showed her to Noah on the computer and he started smiling and kicking his little legs. I thought maybe he was doing that because it was a dog, so I showed him a different dog and he sat with a blank stare. I put it back to Jazmine and he laughed. It was so cute! We hope to meet her on the 19th before flying out to Florida. We will be down for 10 days again. Please leave me a comment or call me so we can plan to get together while we are in FL!

Dancing in the Kitchen
Noah recieved this little "fridge farm" by Leap Frog for Christmas. He actually got it from both Barb Peters and family, and Gramma and Grampa Jensen. We have been having so much fun dancing to Tad and his banjo, and I do mean all of us. I am going to have someone come over with a digital that takes video so that we can post this. We all laughed and laughed last night. I definately needed that type of medicine!
We have also been enjoying continued success with potty training, including his first #2 on the potty today!!!

Back in Iowa
Well once we got back to Iowa, we had some very cold weather including -20 degrees! Matt wondered during this stretch if "you can call it a high if it doesn't make it above 0?" During this stretch, we went to Rochester to see James play in a B-Ball double header. We also got to celebrate Dan's birthday while we were there. I have had a few more shows since we arrived in Iowa, including a show from the lab in Gainesville that I used to work at. We have also been able to get together with our friends in Waverly which has been fun too.
Matt and I continue loving to try out new recipes and cook probably one or two new things a week. My business is helping fan the flame because with most of the products, you recieve a new recipe to try out with the product. Just last week we ate stuffed pizza with the Jensen grandparents.
A few days ago, the high actually reached 40 degrees and the snow was warm enought to build a snowman. Noah enjoyed being able to play outside for the first time in months!
He loved standing on the very top of a well packed snow pile, as if to claim, "I am king of the mountain!" He also donned kisses on our snowman!
This weekend we have had our cousin Nick staying with us and he has been educating me on how to play Yu-Gi-Oh. It has been fun having a second "son" around and Noah loves it too!
So, now I think you are all caught up to speed on our lives. Katie, this is for you girl! I would love to hear more about your little one as soon as you get a spare moment!

Our tour of Florida
When we arrived in Florida, Matt went and picked up our rental. We were very relieved that it had stow-n-go seats otherwise we may not have fit with all of our stuff (Matt, Noah, Mom, Amy, Brilei and I). We made it to my gramma's safe and sound. We had some good times with gramma and Barby before heading to Gainesville for New Years Eve. We stayed with Katie and Jimmy while we were in Gainesville and had a blast hanging out with everyone on New Years Eve at the Williams'. We were so into our game of "What if" that we missed the ball drop!
The next day we headed out to the Birketts' to watch the Gators play...yes, it was a loss, but the time wasn't. We had lots of fun catching up the last six months with everyone.
That afternoon we played some games and then went over for our "Christmas Dinner" with Dean. We ate some really good food and exchanged gifts, but Noah was getting tired and we need to put him to bed, so we went back to The Whitlocks for bedtime.
The following morning we headed back towards Tampa and had Christmas Dinner with my mom's family. Barby finished her original painting for Noah's wall! Here is Noah admiring his new piece of art.
We also enjoyed playing Bohnanza and Hurricane, which we borrowed from the Whitlocks. The following day, we saw David, Leigh Anne, Shay Lynn, and Tomi . Leigh Anne hosted a Pampered Chef party and recieved $215 dollars in free products and 3 1/2 off items!!! Her show also helped get me to $3000 in sales in Jan! It was so fun hanging out with the four of them for a little while.
Saturday, we headed to Withlacoochee River Park to gather with the Hughlett family. We ate like kings, because thats what the Hughletts do! It was great seeing everyone who was able to make it out to the park.These are a couple different group shots because some left early and some came a little later.

That night we made our way to Gainesville and stayed with the Whitlocks again. Sunday morning we were able to go back to our church (the building) in Gainesville. It was nice getting to see everyone there. We also went out to eat after church with several of our friends. That afternoon I held a Pampered Chef Fundraiser for our Costa Rica mission team. If you do not already know, Matt and I are going to Costa Rica with the UF Christian Campus House in March. This fundraiser helped us in two ways.
My commision is paying for our trip and the fundraising money is going to be divided among the team. Matt and I are also going to try to organize a fundraiser breakfast or dinner to raise funds for our mission. Monday, we finally got to see Joel, Jen, and Evan. It was so good that they got in before we left because we were missing them terribly.
We also got to visit with Beth and Jordan on our tour and that was great too. We missed seeing a few people though. My dad and his family are he first ones we didn't get to see. We also missed seing my great friend Bran Dee, but I think she may come and visit us sometime! The last few days we spent with my gramma. While we were there, we had to take Noah back to the Dr. He still had an ear infection and she put him back on antibiotics. As I am writing this, I am preparing to take him back to the doctor because I think he may have an ear infection again. My gramma took us back to the airport and we made it home by 10pm that night.

Very eventful few weeks...now over a month!
Hi all! I have really been neglecting the blog lately and there are plenty of people who are depending on me to keep this up so they can keep up with us! Matt and I have been enjoying recent success in our jobs. I just passed $5000 in sales with the Pampered Chef and Matt is adding new clients with his nutrition business.
Since the last post, so much has happened. Noah is continuing to have potty successes. On the 21st of December, we were blessed with a full house of guests. Dan and Lynn were planning to stay with us, but we were also fortunate to have Dave, Christa, Travis and Rebecca Jensen stay with us the night before and during the Jensen Christmas. The weather was bad so they asked if they could come up so that they would be able to be there for the Christmas celebrations. We told them that the inn wasn't full yet, so come on over.
After gifts were opened on the 22nd, the men went on a buffalo hunt. Grampa's buffalo had managed to escape and Matt, Marque, Dave Jensen and Grampa went on the chase. Needless to say, there we 4 very cold men when they were finished. We played some games, but the most enjoyed was definately "What if," a game that our good friend Jen Searby taught us. Some of the best rounds we wrote down. They are never as funny if you were not there, but for everyone who was there here they are:
Q: What if brown cows gave chocolate milk?
A: Then I'd diet.
Q: What if I were big?
A: Too bad!
Q: What if Nicole was a Bolin?
A: Christmas would smell different.
Q: What if Travis got an F on a paper?
A: Then we would have a funny funeral
Q: What if Christmas was everyday?
A: The more the merrier
Q: What if I could not think of a what if question?
A: I don't want to think about it!
Q: What if Anthony didn't like the Packers?
A: Then he'd be a Vikings fan
Q: What if football wasn't so important to men?
A: Kathy would be excited!
Q: What if it didn't snow?
A: Then I'd be mad.
Q: What if Mary (gramma) moved to Tx?
A: She wouldn't be so chubby
Q: What if gramma J couldn't cook?
A: That would be ok.
Q: What if Ashley was shy?
A: She'd be sick
Q: What if we all got snowed in?
A: It couldn't happen!
I think we have a video to post on someones camera. When I figure out whose, we will post it.
The following morning the Jensen's went to church with us in Waverly and then treated us to lunch at the Pizza Ranch (a pizza buffet in Waverly). Dave and Christa also brought gifts for their bed tax- habeneros, egg rolls, and homemade pestos. We haven't used any of them yet, but we are waiting on our oven to get fixed! It broke the Sunday morning when everyone was here. It has yet to be fixed, but the repair man is suppossed to be coming today...and snow is also on its way, so we will see which gets here first.
That same day, my mom (Noah's Baga), my sister Amy, and Brilei finally made it into Des Moines after hours of delays. We were so happy that their flight was not cancelled! We made it home that night around 1am. Then after we had all piled out of the car, we realized we had been locked out of the house. Matt found us a way in and we were so glad because we were all so ready for a bed. The next day we had Christmas with the Bolin clan. It was fun to have all of us together again. We had a great Christmas dinner Pam made and had fun opening gifts together. We were all pretty beat from our late night airport stay, so we headed out to get some rest for the Christmas eve festivities that night. We went to the Vineyard for the candlelight Christmas Eve service. Afterwards, we enjoyed chili and oyster stew Gramma Mary had prepared. The boys and Amy enjoyed playing guitar hero on Amy's wii and ther rest of us played "What if" again. We had some great laughs. When we went home, Mom, Amy and I did some last minute wrapping before Santa Clause was to come. Then we all headed to bed.
Christmas morning, we had fun watching Brilei open her presents. Noah like to open presents too, but his attention span just didn't hold as long. Mid-morning we went to Gramma and Grampa Bolin's house to celebrate with the extended Bolin family. We got to see all of the family there which was really great. When we left there, we headed home to get our warm stuff on so that we could go sledding in the Bolin's pasture, and did we ever! Everyone went down at the slopes and we all had a blast!
As for the rest of the time my family was here, we played scrabble at the Bolins which my mom and Amy proved to be a deadly team. On the 27th, we got to visit with the Harveys and played Cranium WOW! We also played "what if" again with the Bolins and we wrote down some of the favs from that round too.
Q: What if all of the Bolins could play the Star-Spangled Banner on the nose flute?
A: We would ask them to move to the next room
Q: What if Nicole bought a ring for James?
A: It would only crush James' spirit more in the end
Q: What if Nicole said "No?"
A: That wouldn't surprise me
Q: What is Brilei already graduated from Pre-K?
A: Then all that giberish would make some sense
Q: What if Obama was a republican?
A: He'd be on star search
My mom spent some time sewing while she was here. She made a little house for Noah that fits over top of the card table. He has a lot of fun in it. She also made the four of us girls scarfs that matched. We took Noah to the pediatrician and found out he had a throat and ear incfection. The following night, we took calzone to Gramma Mary's house (because our oven was broken). Noah ended up spiking a fever that read 103.2 on the thermometer under his arm when he yanked it out. Matt and I took him to the hospital and we were there for about 4 hrs. We found out one good piece of info- we could give him a higher dose of fever reducer.
The next day we went to church, then loaded all of our stuff up into the van (minus one of the seats) and headed to Des Moines to fly to warm Florida for 12 days.

Potty success! (Again!!!)
Well, as many of you know we have been working on potty training (for fun really) since around August or so. Well, two nights in a row now Noah has used the potty right before his bath. He has been able to control the stream by starting and stopping it several times. We gave lots of praise yesterday and between flows we would clap together. It is really quite exciting to see the end of the diaper tunnel! I think our next step is going to be adding another potty time during the day. Noah may not be an early talker, but it is looking like he will be potty trained many moons before other kids! For Christmas, he is getting some training pants and "Big Boy" underwear. He needs another little potty seat that fits the big toilet if anyone is still unsure of what to get him...
As for communication, he has been picking up more and more signs. It seems like he only needs to see them once to be able to use them now. He has added cold and hot, shoes and socks, and mommy and daddy to his repertoire. Those are the only new ones I can think of. He has been doing airplane for quite some time now and he also waves when vehicles go by (even if he can only hear them). It is quite cute. Well that is all for now. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas if I don't get the chance to update before then!

Santa
Over the Thanksgiving weekend, we went and visited Santa at a local greenhouse. I also purchased some bulbs- tulips, narcissus and crocus, which I put in the ground the day before we had a hard freeze...and needless to say, we have not been out of the 20's yet! The bad part about that is we had freezing rain and the ground is still covered in ice. I hit a patch of ice yesterday and the car started to fish tail, but I managed to keep it on the road and not put it in the ditch.

Brrrr!
Well today I woke up and the ground was covered in snow. Then about 9am it started to sleet. Now it is raining. The windows have been frozen over since about 9:30 this morning. They all look like frosted glass. Needless to say, we have been stuck inside the entire day. Our neighbor got stuck in the driveway. It took her 40mins to get home from Clarksville which is about 5 miles from here. Matt worked at the dairy this morning and slid past two different turns to get to our house. I knew the weather would be kinda bad this winter and this is just the start...Will I ever survive?

We had our first winter welcome to Iowa on Novemeber 21st. I snowed most of the day and a little in the night. Most of it melted as the ground was still warm, but we had a little left on Thanksgiving moring when the pictures were taken. I know everyone would want to see some snow so here are a few pictures -Matt

Noah's 18 month check up
Wow. Eighteen months have gone by (plus a little more) since the day Matt and I became parents. We have definately had our parenting views challenged by this little guy in more ways than one. We have really enjoyed our time together being Noah's mommy and daddy.
Today at Noah's appointment (November 16th), he basically just had a physical because we never signed the release to have his records sent up here. We did not want him to be doubly vaccinated for something, so we will take him back in in a few weeks to get his Hep A vaccinations depending on where he is in the series. We are, however, declining to give him the influenza and chicken pox vaccinations. So if anyone knows of any kids with the pox, let me know so I can get Noah exposed ;) He has also been referred to an audiologist to make sure he is fully hearing. The reason for this is because he still does not say any words and that is one of the developmental milestones they look for in an 18mo. The Dr did not seem too concerned because male children do tend to talk later so he wasn't totally out of the curve, but wanted to take preventative measures in case there are some issues. Noah was also referred to a dentist for the chipped teeth he has from falling onto the arm of a friends couch, shorlty after he turned one. The dentist will let us know if there is anything we should do about them. We have both of those appointments on Dec. 4th. Today he weighed 23lbs and was 30 inches tall. Noah also got a haircut yesterday. Although it was not the haircut I wanted him to have, the girl did a good job on it. He looks so handsome!

He is throwing a tantrum in this one beacuse the table was being uprighted...
While on our way home from Waterloo, we heard an interesting segment on the Christian radio concerning politics and the church. I thought that this segment was particularly interesting considering the ongoing conversations I have been having with other Christians lately. You can see the transcripts of what Doug Smith had to say at http://knws.nwc.edu/article.php?id=146 I was particularly intriguied by the 12th and 14th. I hope you all care enough about the subject to take a little time and see what a fellow Christian had to say about the subject. You might be challenged, as was I, by what he had to say about the matter.

Halloween and More.
After a 3week growth spurt in which Noah seemed to have grown about 3 inches, he could no longer fit into his Mickey Mouse outfit that was entirely too big for him last year. He ended up being a very darling lion. Pam and I had fun taking him to the Clarksville nursing home and to a few homes of the ladies from her church. Noah also got to go to story hour the Friday before Halloween dressed as a lion.

Potty success!
Yesterday Noah had his first potty success with #2! How exciting that we are starting to see the light at the end of the diaper tunnel. Also, I finally bought a wipe warmer because Noah hates being wiped now and I think it is because the wipes are always so cold up here. Now I am able to use the cloth wipes that I bought about a year ago and they work great!
Another fun thing Noah learned yesterday was the "g" sound. He started doing it so I would say to him, "Get it, get it, get it, get it, got it, got it, good!" He thought it was funny and would try to repeat me. He was so cute!
Also, for those of you who do not know yet, I am now an Independent Consultant for Pampered Chef now. I am so excited that I will have a fun job of my own to get me out of the house once in awhile. If anyone ever needs anything or wants to have a party, just let me know. There are lots of benefits for the host including free and reduced merchandise. I hope to get qualified in the next month so that I can also accept online orders. Thursday, November 1st I am having a cooking show party at my place, so come and join the fun. Everyone is welcome and you should bring a friend, too!

A trip to the Twin Cities
This past weekend, we went on a trip to Minneapolis to visit Matt's uncle Marque and his family Janeen, Tyler and Morgan. Unfortunately Jared was out of town and we did not get to see him. On Friday, we went to see Tyler and his football team play. They were so good that I felt bad for the other team and actually cheered a couple of times out loud for the other team. The team Tyler plays for is in a more affluent neighborhood. The other team came from a lower-end neighbor hood and only had about ten (maybe) fans in the stands. It was really heart-breaking. The kids on the other team probably came from single parent homes where there were two jobs being worked and there was no time to go to their child's game-just my speculation. I think it is sad that both sides were not supported somewhat equally.
Anyway, the next morning we went and looked at where the bridge had collapsed. It was almost all cleaned up and they are about to start construction on a new bridge. Then we went to a Mexican Market. It was really neat and we ate some really good food there. We then crossed the Mississippi to St. Paul to go to the Free Como Zoo. I think Noah enjoyed, as did we. After we finished the zoo, Matt, Morgan and Noah rode the Carousel. Noah did not even cry! Saturday night we hung out and played games.
On Sunday, we went to church and heard an awesome sermon. This was one of the neatest churches I have ever been to. I have never seen a more culturally diverse church in my life and I think that it sad that there are not more churches in America like it. We enjoyed our stay and Janeen's wonderful cooking, and hope to visit again sometime!
By the way, tonight as I was putting Noah to bed, he blew me a kiss! How sweet is that?

A Weekend Away
Well we had a great weekend away in Madison, WI. We saw the show, sampled lots of cheese, picked up lots of freebies, saw good friends, networked with others in the dairy business, bought lots of cheese, watched the gators lose-again :(, got to spend some good time with my mom "Baga."
On our way out to Madison, we stopped in Independence, IA to see Barack Obama speak. He took several questions from the audience including mine! He is such a down to earth guy with a humble background, not a privileged one. He is not accepting PAC or federal money, with most of his private donations being less than 200 dollars, but still the biggest fundraiser as of yet. There were people from all walks of life at this "meet and greet" which is one of the best parts about his campaign. No matter if you are poor or rich, black, white or Latino, young or old, Obama has great ideas and plans to lead us into the future. He is being compared to great presidents of the past like Abe Lincoln and JFK...what an honor! He hopes to restore America's place in the world through diplomacy...what a concept! He is also a very eloquent writer and speaker which is very important, to me at least, if you are the leader of the most prosperous country in the free world- complete sentences including good grammar is usually a plus.
Anyway, I am getting off my soapbox now. Madison was really a nice little vacation. We stayed at a family owned hotel called McGovern's.
The rooms were very clean, but they only had a stand in shower. So we brought a Rubbermaid tub for Noah...he was literally in a "wash tub!"
We were at expo for some of the Holstein show and for the naming of Supreme Champion of both the open and junior shows. The same Guernsey was the champion of both shows followed by a Jersey for reserve. We also went on the ABS tour and saw a lot of bull! They had the best cookies on the tour- Chocolate filled with peanut butter or regular chocolate chip filled with chocolate. They reminded me of Magic Middles, which were made by Keebler when I was a kid and I loved them!
Noah loved all of the equiptment at the Expo and even sat long enough to pose in a huge payloader tire!
